United Irishmen - Local Connections?
This exciting new heritage programme invites you to explore local connections to the United Irishmen, through informal group discussions at Cloona House and guided visits to Divis & Black Mountain and Clifton House, Belfast’s original poor house.
It will take place across four sessions on Friday mornings. Sessions will usually last from 10am-12.30pm, with an earlier pick time on 3rd May (9.30am). Participants attend all four sessions.
· 19th April at Cloona House – Introductions: The local significance of the United Irish Men?
· 26th April – Guided heritage walk at Divis and Black Mountain (lifts from Cloona House available if needed)
· 3rd May – Visit to Clifton House (bus pick up 9.30am from Cloona House)
· 10th May at Cloona House – Group activity: Creating a Fact Sheet on local connections to the United Irishmen as a resource for the community (for Divis Loan Box scheme)
This programme will be facilitated by the National Trust as part of the Divis and Black Mountain Project.
All welcome – participants must be 18+ years old.
