There are lots of local activities, events, and training provided by local organisations and groups in the Colin area. From sports to crafts, there is lots to do in the Colin area!

If you are feeling like taking on a new during 2018, there is a weekly Crochet Group in Sally Gardens Community Centre in Poleglass. The group meets from 6.00pm to 9.00pm on Wednesday evenings and there is no cost to join. Sally Gardens also hosts Hip Hop classes for kids on Wednesdays from 7:00pm - 8:00pm as well as Junior Discos at the weekends. For parents and kids, Colin Sure Start also runs a busy programme of activities throughout the year. These include parent and toddler groups, a weekly fathers group, baby massage, breastfeeding groups, and parent support groups in various venues throughout the Colin area. Footprints Women’s Centre in Poleglass also caters to parents and kids with a wide range of activities as well as running a number of training

For older members of our community, The Lively Bunch, a seniors group for those aged 60+, meets weekly in Cloona House in Poleglass. The group enjoys a hot lunch and activities from 12noon - 2:00pm every Wednesday for the very reasonable price of £3 per person. There is also a Senior Citizens Luncheon Club and Friendship Group on Fridays in Sally Gardens from 12noon - 1:30pm.lively bunch Jan 2017 1024x684

Footprints Women’s Centre also runs a weekly Seniors Lunch Group on Mondays from 12noon - 3:00pm. In St Luke’s Family Centre in Twinbrook there is a new weekly Grandparents Group which meets from 11:30am – 12:30pm on Thursdays, perfect for a cuppa and a natter.

 There are also a wide range of sports clubs and programmes available for all ages throughout the community. Colin Gaels Gaelic training for boys and girls aged from 4 to 14 takes place on Sundays in Brook Activity Centre in Twinbrook from 12noon – 1:00pm. This 1 hour session costs just £1.00 per person and new players of all ages are welcome. For more info call David on 07843940134 or PM Colin Gaels on facebook. Belfast Swifts, Colin Valley FC, GAA Club Eire Og, and many more sports clubs hold weekly activities for both kids and adults.

 

 

Colin Glen Forest Park and Colin Park Leisure also hold a number of outdoor activities at their centres, visit their website www.colinglen.org for more information on weekly events. For those who feel fighting fit there are also a number of boxing clubs in the area including St Michaels ABC in Springbank Industrial Estate in Poleglass and Saints Boxing Club in Saints Youth Centre.
