Crowds gather at the Colin Allotments for the Colin Volunteer Awards.

Volunteers from the Colin area of West Belfast have been recognised at a special celebration event organised by Colin Neighbourhood Partnership (CNP).

The event, held at the Colin Allotments Community Garden in Poleglass, saw volunteers from all walks of life gather to receive certificates of nomination. Kate Campbell, volunteer with CNP and ex-Director of Children’s Services and Social Work at the South Eastern Trust, presented special awards to a number of people as a way of recognising their volunteering efforts within the Colin community.

Colin Neighbourhood Partnership’s Volunteer Coordinator, Gemma McCaughley, said at the event: “We received nearly 100 nominations in 6 categories for the Colin Volunteer Awards, it is clear that people in the Colin community are so grateful for the work local volunteers do. I would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated as they clearly made a significant impact on the people and groups they support. It is an honour to give our local volunteers the praise and recognition they deserve and on behalf of the Colin community I thank you for giving up your time and skills to support others. Thanks must also go to event funders Department for Communities and Belfast City Council.”
