The older residents of the Colin area enjoyed a May Ball in Dunmurry Church Hall recently, complete with live music, a 3 course lunch, and dancing around a colourful maypole. The cross community event was organised by Good Morning Colin (GMC) and was attended by over 100 older people from organisations from the Dunmurry and Colin areas including GMC, Kilwee Care Home, and the Dairy Farm Day Centre.
Isobel Flood, Coordinator of Good Morning Colin, considered the event a huge success, saying: “The May Ball was a great event for our local seniors. They really enjoyed the getting out, enjoying the entertainment and meeting other people. The aim of the event was to combat social isolation, promote physical activity and support an inclusive community and it did just that. It was great to see the older residents in our community enjoying themselves, talking to other people and benefitting from a great afternoon out."
